ABOUT US

Climb Asia is a group of professional climbers. Since its inception in 2002, Climb Asia has been committed to develop the sport and seek new grounds in Singapore and the region. Unlike other companies in this business, we at Climb Asia are professional climbers who not only actively use climbing walls but also own a climbing training facility at our 60 Tessensohn Road office. So rest assured that we know best, the needs of the end-user as well as the facilities manager.

Mohammed Halil Bin Ngah. Captained the National Speed climbing squad in the Singapore Climbing World Cup 2002, and has been climbing actively and progressively since 1994. Inspired by the quality of the rock climbing he had on his first trip to Thailand, he got hooked to the sport and have since travelled far and wide climbing in some of the best crags in the world and competed against some of the world’s best climbers in the World Cup circuit. After being ranked Number 1 in Singapore for 5 years and spending sometime in the top three of regional competitions (Silver in Asia Cup 2001, bronze in the Asian X Games 2002 and 2003), he decided to give something back to the community.

Philip Lim is no stranger to the climbing community. He is now a professional climbing coach and a ‘retired’ competition climber. Leaving a career in advertising to pursue his calling, he spent some time in Europe climbing with the world’s best. He has represent Singapore at several World Cup & Asian Championships and was Singapore’s 4-time National Champion. Always out to push his limits, his current projects include exploring more climbing on rock and watching his students fall in love with the sport.

Philip's CV

Shannon Tham started climbing in 1989 when his restless soul was searching for something out of the ordinary of his Boy Scout activities. Getting his hands on some mountaineering books, he began experimenting with nylon ropes and hemp rope harnesses. He has since gone on to spend more time climbing overseas with better equipment.

Ivan Toh started climbing in 2001 and immediately fell in love with the ‘raw’ feel of the sport. Inspired by the challenge it provided for his mind and the lessons it taught about commitment, trust and fears; he quickly got himself certified as a National Routesetter so he could share his brand of problem-solving and the resulting satisfaction with others. He believes the beauty of the sport is in its simplicity and his passion for climbing continues to drive him onward to bring the sport to the uninitiated.

Lim June Pein got hooked on climbing as a student, and has since then devoted his time and energies to trying his hands at everything the sport encompasses; from club leaderships and event management, to coaching and competitive climbing. In between sharing this lifestyle sport with everyone and anyone, he hopes to visit the world’s greatest climbing spots, and to inspire others to discover for themselves, the life lessons that climbing has taught him
